When AI Floods The Feeds, Human Voices Matter More
Hey Reader
Podcasting is shifting fast, and right now, creators like us have an edge.
Here’s what’s happening:
- Netflix is getting serious. They’re hiring a head of podcasts, signaling that video-first series are becoming a scalable, low-cost content play. When big media enters a space, they’re betting on growth, and that rising tide can lift every boat.
- AI startups are flooding directories. One company has just announced plans to produce 5,000 shows and over 3,000 episodes a week for approximately $1 per episode, all with minimal human involvement. That’s a lot of noise.
For some, this looks like a nightmare. For us, it’s an opportunity. The more low-effort, machine-made content fills feeds, the more listeners will search for something REAL.
Your Edge? The Human Element
Here’s where real creators can shine:
Make it interactive. Imagine hearing your name on a favorite show. That sticks. Invite questions, play voice notes, or thank listeners directly. AI can broadcast, but it can’t build a conversation.
Show your face. Even a simple webcam setup changes how people connect with you. A smile, a raised eyebrow, a laugh, these small cues build trust fast. And with YouTube, TikTok, and now Netflix pushing video podcasts, visibility is heading that way.
Keep the texture. Real conversations have pauses, laughs, awkward phrasing, even tech hiccups. These aren’t mistakes. They’re signals of humanity. When I edit, I’ll often leave in a laugh or pause because it adds warmth. AI smoothness sounds clean, but it also sounds empty.
💡 Remember: Your listeners don’t need “perfect.” They need you.
What You Can Try This Week
- Record a quick thank-you for one loyal listener and drop it into your next episode.
- Capture 20 seconds of video during your next recording and post it to Shorts or Reels.
- Let one or two quirks stay in the edit instead of scrubbing them all out.
Your Turn
In a world where machines can churn out unlimited episodes, your best move isn’t to match their volume. It’s to double down on authenticity.
Your voice isn’t just content, it’s connection. And connection is something AI can’t fake.
